Has anyone ever used acupuncture for pain management?
I have been diagnosed with facet disease. I had one treatment by injection and it helped but when I returned for my second treatment I was kept waiting for an hour and a half in the waiting room. I just was so incensed that a Doctor could be such a poor time manager I left. (I was not alone in the waiting room and no there was not an “emergency” going on.
Anyway – I did get some relief by that one treatment, but I refuse to return to that guy. My GP suggested Acupuncture. I’m highly in favor of alternative treatments to drugs, but I don’t want to be caught up in a cycle such is the case (in SOME instances) of Chiropractic care – where you can never leave – sort of Hotel California-esque. LOL
It’s expensive and I have a hugely high deductible (partially covered by an HSA) but I don’t want to deplete the HSA for something that may not be worth the expense.
So what say you? Have you had first hand experience? Are there certain things I should look for or be aware of? Expect?
I had the series of injections with temporary relief only. The original pain returned almost immediately and I understand the injections cause additional degeneration to the facet joints.
I spent several years struggling with the debilitating pain. I finally found a physician trained in Eastern medicine, as well as Western medicine. She put me on a strict diet described in the book “The Schwarzbein Principle”. It is designed to heal the body on a cellular level. I followed the book religiously. She also sent me to a chiropractor who specialized in a physical therapy-like treatment plan. He built orthotics for my shoes that realigned my stance from my feet to my shoulders. He also came up with an exercise plan that I could carry out at home. The doctor did acupuncture treatment three times a week for several weeks.
My recovery was slow, but sure. It took about six to ten months for me to be completely pain free.
I can’t say how much each part of her treatment plan played in my recovery. I think they were all important components.
My husband and I have used acupuncture for several different problems over the years. Our experience is that it is effective, but it works very slowly.

I hate to say it, but I think you go with one per person. One reason for this is that the tables will look a lot better with these at every place setting, rather than randomly scattered. In that case, people may not even be sure they’re favors and not decorations. Also, these sound really pretty, and I’m sure the female halves of couples would prefer a set anyway!

i have to do this science project and im going to make gel candles, but idk where to find the materials. I cant buy the gel wax at michaels or anything because the gel wax candles have to be made by scratch!! HELP!!
